Gary Sims

Victoria. I love living in Victoria! The beautiful scenery, the temperate climate, the active city life all bring a joy of living here. I made Victoria my home while attending the University of Victoria 40+ years ago. While here I earned in 1982 a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. I went on to eventually form my software consulting company Gasman Industries Ltd. I bring a wealth of experience from running my software company for over 35 years.

In my free time, over the last 20 years, I’ve also kept active operating and maintaining a number of our own short, mid, and long term rentals in Victoria. Running a rental business for our own properties and performing complete renovations myself has given me good insight into understanding properties and determining how best to improve them affordably.

Working in real estate together with Rosemary…

I met my wife, Rosemary, in 2012 and we were happily married in 2014. Within our first year of marriage Rosemary started working, after a successful university career, as a licensed Realtor® with DFH Real Estate Ltd. I assisted Rosemary part-time for over 5 years, registered with the Victoria Real Estate Board as her unlicensed assistant. During that time, I helped her practically with many housing sales and purchases and we discussed best strategies for both buying and selling homes and condos. I developed the same love for homes that Rosemary shares with her clients. I became excited considering the possibility of working with Rosemary full-time as a new career. In 2020 I joined her as a licensed Realtor® with DFH, bringing a complementary skill set for the benefit of our clients. Since then, we both work together with all our clients, which brings great flexibility and coverage for our clients’ varied needs. As of January 2024, Rosemary has stepped down from her active role as a Realtor®, and now has taken on the role of my part-time registered unlicensed assistant. This allows her some well-earned personal time and the chance to pursue some other interests. However, she is still my very valuable support and will be active in real estate activities with me in the future.

My personal life…

When not working, Rosemary and I are active ballroom dancers. Music forms a big part of my life playing mandolin in a church worship group, previously guitar in a bluegrass band, grade 9 piano, violin, singing tenor in a seasonal choir, and acting as Treasurer for the exciting Victoria Fiddle Society.

I have served volunteer positions on church, industry, and the University of Victoria boards. I have been on several committees with the Victoria Real Estate Board and from all of these have learned how to work well with other people and get things done. I always finish what I start and do what I say I will do.

I am very thankful to have 2 adult children. In the past when my kids were young, I coached them and other kids in softball and basketball. My son, Jason, is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) working as a senior accountant. My daughter, Teresa, is the entrepreneur behind SIP Spirits Consulting, a growing market research company in Calgary and the developer of Flavor Camp™. Rosemary and I are both very proud of their successes and of who they have become as people and the differences they are making.

Our commitment to you…

As of January 2024, with me now taking the lead in our Real Estate business we have now rebranded our business as “Gary Sims Victoria Homes”. We will continue to work together on all our real estate projects with Rosemary now providing support and assistant duties. We will do our very best to serve you as our clients with integrity, honesty, dependability, and excellence in all we do. We go the extra mile! Our motto remains “We love people and we love homes!”.
